Urban Unpacking
Photo of the Week
Boxes and crates are being unpacked, walls are being painted and colorful flags and photos are being hung in the new OSU Urban Arts Space in the former Lazarus building downtown. All the activity is in anticipation of the opening of the space and its inaugural exhibition, Midnight Robbers: The Artists of Notting Hill Carnival. The exhibition, co-curated by Lesley Ferris (Theatre), opens Feb 5, and the OSU Urban Arts Space's grand opening celebration is that Friday, Feb 8, 5:30 to 8 pm. To attend, call 292-5171. For more details, go to the web. The costumes above, by artist Robin VanLear, are on loan from the Cleveland Museum of Art.

The project started July 1, 2007, and will result in just over six hours of new music in 60-second installments.

I'm organizing a conference called "The Poetics of Conflict and Reconciliation," for October 16-18 (2008), in Bridgewater, Virginia, and welcome proposals from you all. The conference web page is: http://www.bridgewater.edu/~sgallowa/poetics08.
